Gibson hugs (tackles??) Will

As I said below, Gibson definitely loves her cousin Will. Lots of hugs. Here's a cute video of her giving Will some hugs...maybe a bit too aggressively! :) No one was hurt in the making of this video.

Sitting still watching a video

We couldn't believe that at almost 7 months & 17 months, Will & Gibson sat this still to watch a little Baby Einstein. Jennifer painted these cute chairs for the kids, and they would sit in them at night watching videos. Will had a tendency to try to flip his over, so he needed a bit more supervision. But Gibson was just so calm watching the video. It was so cute! I love the expressions on their faces.

Gibson takes Will on a stroll

On our last night in Gulf Shores, we went to dinner at the new Live Bait in the Wharf. After dinner (and before the ferris wheel), Gibson had fun pushing Will around the parking lot. Will looks like he had just as much fun. **Before you call Child Protective Services on us, the lot was basically empty and there were lots of adults around.

Slideshow of Beach Trip

Here is a slideshow of our picks from the beach. Highlights include Gibson kissing Will, Billy eating seafood (!!), Will eating sand, and family photos in the sand.

Home again!

We just returned from a fabulous week in Orange Beach/Gulf Shores, Alabama with my whole family. My parents rented a huge 4-bedroom condo big enough for Billy, Will & me; Jennifer, Matt & Gibson; and my grandmother Mimi. We were in a corner unit and had a view of the beach & Perdido Pass. From our balcony we could watch the big fishing boats go out in the morning & come in at the end of the day. We did as much relaxing as possible with the little guy & 17-month old Gibson around. The kids were great all week though. Gibson eventually loved the beach, as long as she didn't get too much sand between her toes. Will wasn't a big fan of the ocean, but he LOVED the sand. Well, he loved to EAT the sand. We all had some yummy meals at the condo & out to eat.

I used to go to Gulf Shores every summer growing up, and my mom's family is from very near by in Mobile, AL. I haven't been there since 1999 (when Billy & I first started dating). Hurricane Ivan destroyed many of the familiar landmarks I knew back in 2004. This area has really bounced back well in a short amount of time. My dad, sister, Billy and I went out one night to the famous FloraBama bar and heard some great music. That was a fun night!

It was really great for Will to hang out with his other grandparents and great grandmother for a whole week!! They loved getting to know him better and even helped us out a few nights when Will's teething became an all-night issue. Gibson definitely loves her cousin Will. I have a funny video of her hugging/wrestling Will towards the end of the week. When we told Gibson goodbye, she pointed to Will and started balling crying. It of course made us all teary too. She has such a sweet heart.

The flight home was long with a layover in Atlanta. Will was a bit fussy with his teething & a cold that was probably making his ears hurt. Here's hoping he stays asleep tonight! Mom is tired!!

I'll post a slideshow and some videos of the trip soon. For now, here are a few of my faves!

Getting excited for our beach trip!!

Billy and I are so excited to leave for Gulf Shores where we're meeting up with my whole family! We can't wait for Will to see his Wilkinson grandparents & for him to see the beach for the first time. I'm a little nervous that he will eat lots of sand, but Dr. Ng said sand goes through the system just like food...that'd be a heavy diaper! We don't leave for a few more days, but we've already started packing. We're flying so we have to fit our stuff in two suitcases in order to not be charged by the airlines. I told Billy that we'll definitely be charged by the airlines for a third back. Momma doesn't travel light.

Here are some cute pictures from the last time we were with my family and the last time Gibson & Will were together (at his baptism).

Yippee!! Wish we could leave today!

Learning to Crawl & Stand

Will has been pushing himself so hard to try to master crawling. For awhile he's been able to get up on all fours and bounce a bit. When he'd go to take a "step" he'd just launch himself forward on his belly or crawl backwards. (see video) Around the same time his crawling adventures began, he started pulling himself to a standing position in his crib or at the coffee table. That's been going on for about two weeks, but this week he'd definitely crawling. Really crawling. That frightens and amazes me. This little guy is just so strong! I have to get some video of him doing "sit ups". So, who does this little man take after? Who in our family is of such physical prowess? I know we can all sit, crawl & stand...some of us can even walk, but did we at 6 months?? Anne Hoskins says that Billy was standing by 6 months, so maybe he gets it from his daddy.
